Overview of Clockwise

Clockwise is an upmarket, contemporary co-working/serviced offices business with sites already in Glasgow, Belfast, Liverpool and their newest site in Edinburgh which opened in December 2019. A robust UK pipeline of additional sites is under development and these are set to roll-out across key regional locations such as Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff and Cheltenham over the next 12-18 months. Two significant future properties are also now identified for London.

In order to support their future growth and investment plans for the brand and related property investments, Clockwise is planning to appoint a new Chief Operating Officer.


This senior role will join an experienced, well-established leadership and specialist property investment team at Clockwise. The COO role with work collaboratively alongside a CFO and a Chief Growth Officer (appointed – heading up marketing & brand positioning).


The key objectives of the role are clear and centre on creating and delivering a dynamic, sustainable and successful operating strategy for Clockwise. This strategy will be ultimately geared towards creating future-proofed structure and processes along with a core management team to deliver growth and optimisation of Clockwise’s service quality, brand strength and commercial performance.

 

Key Aspects of the Role

  • Measures effectiveness and efficiency of operational processes both internally and externally and finds ways to improve processes via reporting and utilization of various technology platforms such as HubSpot and Office RnD
  • Develops and implements sales growth strategies with Regional Teams, Chief Growth Officer, additional key personnel
  • Acts as a liaison between company and clients for quality assurance
  • Motivates staff to meet or surpass organisational and sales goals by championing OKRs
  • Coordinates with human resources department to recruit skilled talent and keep the best employees
  • Oversees daily operations of Regional teams and centres and makes adjustments as necessary
  • Provides a system for employee salaries and benefits, and makes sure employees feel valued
  • Promotes communication between colleagues for the benefit of information flow and to curb any problems that arise
  • Ensure the development of health and safety practices for Clockwise and oversee compliance with those practices
  • Coordinate the sustainability strategies of Clockwise
  • Foster a Clockwise culture that promotes ethical practices, customer focus and service and encourages individual integrity
  • Develop, in collaboration with the CEO and the Chief Financial Officer (the “CFO “), an annual operating plan that supports Clockwise’s long term operations strategy;
  • Assist the CEO in overseeing Clockwise’s achievement and maintenance of a satisfactory competitive position within the co working industry
  • Presents new ideas and cash flow strategies to board of directors and other Clockwise directors
  • Keep the CEO fully informed in a timely and candid manner of the conduct of the day-today operations of Clockwise towards the achievement of its established goals and of all material deviations from the goals or objectives and policies established by the Board

 

Key Candidate Attributes

The successful candidate will come from a primarily high-quality or boutique co-working or hotel background, be highly commercial with a well-developed and extensive network and demonstrable operational experience in having delivered complex hospitality property and operational investment projects, be that in concept, brand or property development.

  • An accomplished and proven operator with a substantial background in commercial hospitality and leisure development, be that in concept, brand or property development

  • Entrepreneurial drive is important – this individual will be comfortable navigating the ambiguity and bringing clarity of vision
  • Demonstrable experience in managing significant investment portfolios and delivering large-scale hospitality projects on time and on budget
  • Able to bring fresh ideas and wider industry perspective with a proven network within the hospitality and leisure sectors
  • Strong on marketing and PR, able to execute strategies that maximise ROI and enhance both commercial and brand awareness and discipline
  • Must be comfortable getting close to the business, agile and able to adopt a ‘hands-on’ approach more akin to working within a ‘start-up’ environment
  • A team player, have an inclusive and visible management style and lead from the front
  • A natural influencer with an innate understanding of the spectrum all wider stakeholder interests around each location.
