I am looking for a Finance Director capable of pro-active strategic thinking for an ambitious, entrepreneurial business within the contract catering arena. You will be responsible for adhering to a budget set by you, continuous improvement in financial controls and driving the business forward whilst liaising with senior leadership & management teams within the wider business. This is a visible role so will have some dealings with clients and non-finance colleagues. The scope of this role will require you to have already managed the finance function in a c. £50m ++ hospitality business. You will contribute fully to the development and delivery of the company strategy across all of the business and be prepared to challenge assumption and decision making as appropriate and provide financial analysis and guidance on all business activities, plans budget and business drivers

Profile, Requirements and Responsibilities of the role

  • Broad business knowledge within hospitality sector essential, an understanding of the contract catering world would be a definite advantage.
  • This business supports professional development so could suit someone looking for a first time FD role.
  • You will be a graduate, qualified accountant preferably with ACA.
  • You will need to be highly credible to internal and external stakeholders and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. You will need an eye for detail and be comfortable at presenting at business reviews.
  • You will possess an enquiring mind and a solutions driven outlook.
  • You will be adept at financial modelling and data analysis.
  • This is a contract catering business so experience of bidding, winning and controlling finances on new contracts it therefore desirable as well as being comfortable at reading contracts.
  • Responsible for all budget,  forecasting and business planning whilst liaising with wider business and providing information in timely fashion.
  • Balance cost control and quality output in an entrepreneurial environment where margin management is key but quality is always at the forefront.
  • Familiar with monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages.
  • Work with multimillion capital budget, drive improvement and change programmes.
  • Work closely with supply chain.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and ensure the company financial systems are robust and can support future business growth.
  • Ensure the integrity of the balance sheet.
  • Drive rolling 5 year plan hand in hand with MD to include detailed financial budgets and cash flow forecasts.
  • Implement robust cash/working capital controls and reporting. Seek continuous improvement in cash collection processes
  • Support business development plans providing due diligence of potential new contracts and actively participating in contract renewal activities.
  • Offer support to operations team in their understanding of how finance impacts their working practices
  • Influence indirect reports as well as manage and motivate small team of direct reports
  • Have good understanding of GDPR and champion its integration into daily business and assist colleagues in their understanding of the business’ GDPR obligations.
