The Company
This is a large scale entertainment and visitor focused business operating across live sport, music, culture, hospitality, retail and programmed experiences. It is a highly visible environment with a strong public profile, significant footfall and a year round calendar of activity.
The organisation is entering an important phase of evolution. The focus is on strengthening commercial performance, elevating the end to end experience and ensuring the operation functions as a coherent, world class destination for both local and international audiences. The business is well resourced, ambitious and closely connected to the cultural and economic fabric of its city.
The Role
The Managing Director will hold overall leadership responsibility for the strategic direction, commercial success and operational performance of a complex, multi use entertainment environment.
This role provides end to end accountability across live events, hospitality, food and drink, retail, visitor experiences and public facing operations. The emphasis is on creating a joined up experience rather than siloed activity, ensuring that every element works together to drive footfall, dwell time, reputation and commercial return.
Key responsibilities include setting the long term vision, leading destination wide strategy and acting as a senior external ambassador. The role oversees commercial partnerships and tenancies, identifies new revenue opportunities and ensures operational excellence acrosssafety, security, facilities and event delivery.
Working across internal functions and a wide range of external partners, the Director will provide clarity, pace and leadership in a fast moving environment where standards, collaboration and judgement are critical.
The Candidate
This role will suit a senior leader with experience operating at scale in entertainment, sport, major venues or complex visitor environments. You will have held full P&L responsibility and led multi disciplinary teams across commercial, operational and guest experience functions.
You will bring strong commercial acumen, a track record of building partnerships and an instinct for programming and activation that drives both revenue and audience engagement. You will be comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands on leadership in a live operational setting.
The successful candidate will be credible with senior stakeholders, confident externally and grounded in delivery. You will be calm under pressure, clear in your decision making and motivated by building something that is both commercially successful and culturally relevant.
Experience in placemaking, urban regeneration or experiential development would be advantageous, as would exposure to sports or live entertainment operations. Above all, this role requires a leader who can bring coherence, ambition and momentum to a complex and high profile entertainment environment.
Dan
Account Director
I’ve had a pretty colourful career pre-Troika – I’ve been a bell boy, a waiter, sold Faberge Eggs and electricity door-to-door, ran an Irish Pub in Uganda, a busy events department in Covent Garden, designed stands for a TV Festival, helped open a members club and ran a little events business of my own.
As a candidate, Troika were my go-to recruiters so there was no other place I wanted to be when I decided on my new career path. I’m delighted to be working with such an amazing team and am passionate about matching the brightest talent to their perfect role.
