This is a fantastic opportunity to join this fun, unique, fast paced and growing business as a key member of the leadership team. The Head of International Food will be London based, and the key focus of the role will be driving new product innovation across the seven international territories.


The opportunity

Internationally Caffé Nero offer a mix of brand products and locally inspired and relevant menu items, creating an independent coffee house experience for its customer, in every location. Caffé Nero’s coffee is market leading and award winning. The vision is to ensure that the food offer matches the coffee in terms of quality and presentation, and is creative and innovative, exciting and delighting local customers.

The key responsibilities of the role are as follows;


  • Analyse performance, and with a detailed understanding, grow sales through the facilitation of inspiration and innovation around menu and product development.
  • Identify, source and manage the quality of all items working closely with the UK food team as well as local international teams.
  • Manage the food plan for each region, reacting to local demand and opportunity. Support and develop continued development and change around the food plan process.
  • Set up and agree the food offer for all new territories and advise on and support the expansion strategy in each country.
  • Ensure that marketing campaigns are relevant and maximised.
  • Ensure brand compliance in all territories, and ensure that practices in each territory are in line with local legislation from a food and health and safety perspective


The individual

  • A creative and adaptable individual you will thrive on challenge and will have a proven track record of delivering innovative products based on market insight, identifying trends and understanding customer needs.
  • You will have significant experience of working with cross-functional teams and building strategic, commercial relationships through excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Your experience may be in a Chef, Food Development or Category Management role. You will have worked in multi-site leisure, hospitality, retail or packaged goods with experience of retail product development from concept to counter within the premium branded environment. International experience will be an advantage.
  • You’ll possess strong project management skills and a high level of commercial acumen and will have an understanding of large food production facilities.
  • Operationally focused, you will understand the customer and be able to work closely with store teams to understand what will work best from an operational and sales perspective.
  • A strong implementer with great communication and influencing skills, you will be able to gain buy in from wider business functions to ensure and maximise success.
  • An inspirational leader with experience of high level change management.

Due to nature of this role, you must be open to a significant level of international travel, visiting each territory around 2 to 3 times each year.
